Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all coaching positions at Diamond Valley United Soccer Club are filled with the most suitable and qualified individuals. By opening all coaching positions each season, we maintain a high standard of coaching and provide equal opportunity for all interested candidates, including current coaches who wish to reapply.
Scope:
This policy applies to all coaching positions across all age groups and teams within Diamond Valley United Soccer Club.
Policy Statement:
1. Annual Application Process:
- All coaching positions within Diamond Valley United Soccer Club will be declared open at the conclusion of each soccer season.
- Current coaches, as well as new applicants, are encouraged to apply for available positions for the upcoming season.
2. Notification and Application Timeline:
- The club will announce the opening of all coaching positions by 1st October.
- Applications will be accepted for a period of eight weeks following the announcement.
- Interviews and assessments (if required) will be conducted in the two weeks following the closure of applications.
3. Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must demonstrate relevant coaching qualifications and experience OR be willing to undertake training.
- A valid Working with Children Check is mandatory for all coaching positions.
- Commitment to the club's values, mission, and code of conduct is required.
4. Selection Process:
- A selection panel, comprising the Football Department, committee members and senior club officials, will review all applications.
- The panel will assess applicants based on qualifications, experience, coaching philosophy, and alignment with club values.
5. Appointment:
- Successful applicants will be notified and offered a coaching position for the upcoming season.
- Unsuccessful applicants will be provided with feedback and encouraged to apply in the future.
6. Term of Appointment:
- Coaching appointments are for one season, after which positions will be reopened for application.
- Coaches must reapply if they wish to continue in their role for subsequent seasons.
7. Development and Support:
- The club is committed to supporting the development of its coaches through training and education opportunities.
- Coaches are encouraged to seek feedback and engage in continuous professional development.
